Thousand Islands LH Introduces Maggot House Program

Thousand Islands Environment (LH) Sub-agency introduces bio-conversion program or maggot house that will be placed in 11 inhabited islands.

Our target is to install it in 11 inhabited islands, at least each island has one installation

Thousand Islands Sub-agency Head, Djoko Rianto Budi Hartono stated, currently his side installed bio-conversion or maggot house in Tidung Island as the pilot project thus local residents can practice.

"Our target is to install it in 11 inhabited islands, at least each island has one installation," he conveyed, Saturday (7/25).

Manggot Cultivation Developed in Central Jakarta for Waste Reduction

Bio-conversion program for organic waste management, he explained, can be developed through plasma system at the community level. This program is an implementation from Jakarta Gubernatorial Regulation (Pergub) No. 108/2019 concerning the Policy Management Strategy for Household and Those Similar to Household.

"Residents just need to sort waste from its source and later it will be taken by our PPSU or PJLP personnel to be processed in maggot house," he mentioned.
